Aviation safety auditing company Wyvern is adopting International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) as the benchmark for achieving the company’s highest aviation operator safety rating, Wingman Certification. Combined with the newly issued revision of the Wingman Standard, the IS-BAO standards and audit protocols will serve as the foundation for operators to achieve IS-BAO stage certification and enter the Wingman program at the same time, offering a cost-effective and time-saving solution. “Wyvern recognizes that the IS-BAO standards reflect an operator’s commitment to industry best practices in aviation,” said Wyvern CEO Art Dawley. He added that this will make the audit process “simpler and more cost effective,” but “will not compromise the Wingman program in any way.” The company developed the Wingman Standard in 1994 to establish air charter aviation safety parameters that exceeded regulations. Operators that are already IS-BAO certified and satisfy the additional requirements of the Wingman program will meet the basic requirements for certification, which might eliminate the need for additional audit visits, Wyvern said. The company will also continue to offer standalone Wingman Standard audits, as well as IS-BAO certification audits for those not seeking Wingman certification.
